WiRED International Receives Charitable Donation from VMware

BY ALLISON KOZICHAROW AND BERNICE BORN

WiRED International’s board and volunteers wish to thank the VMware Foundation for its recent generous donation in honor of an employee (who wishes to remain anonymous) who has been with the company for many years. WiRED plans to spend the funds on its “Mothers’ and Children’s Health” program.

VMware, Inc., is an American company that provides cloud and virtualization software and services. The VMware Foundation is “focused on providing a platform that enables our people to support the causes important to them. We believe in ‘Citizen Philanthropy,’ which is rooted in the power of choice and collective impact.” Founded in 1998, VMware is based in Palo Alto, California.

"At VMware, who we are fuels what we do. Our Foundation exists to amplify our people’s passion for the causes closest to their hearts. "

VMware, Inc.

Nicola Acutt, VMware’s Vice President for Sustainability and Giving, said, “At VMware, who we are fuels what we do. Our Foundation exists to amplify our people’s passion for the causes closest to their hearts. When a VMware person reaches 12 years of service with the company, we are pleased to offer that person the opportunity to recommend a grant to the charity of their choice.”

WiRED International helps communities in low-resource regions learn about maintaining health and preventing illness. Most of the staff are volunteers, and 95% of funds go directly into programming. WiRED operates through the generosity of individuals and foundations and welcomes their support. WiRED’s cost-free health and medical training programs are used by people around the world.
