WiRED Module Express on Track to Arrive This Summer
WiRED International will soon present a new twist on our health education program: the Module Express series.
WiRED developed the new Express series particularly for use in the most isolated areas of the world. We will be taking this series on our next major trip — to the Peruvian Amazon. To that end our first modules will be translated into Spanish, then into other languages.
The Express series offers short modules for general audiences who need only a brief introduction to a topic. We expect to have around 20 completed modules in early June on such subjects as cancers, intestinal parasites, pregnancy and childbirth, diarrhea, dehydration and asthma.
This reader’s digest approach to our learning program enables WiRED to educate grassroots audiences quickly on health issues. WiRED created the modules so that they could be completed in an hour and a half or less. The Express modules provide key points on disease and conditions through descriptions, signs and symptoms, causes and treatments without going into the level of detail that our regular modules offer.
The Express modules are not part of our regular Certificate Program which encourages community members to study a given module and take a comprehensive exam on the material. However, we are discussing the value of creating an Express incentive program to encourage everyone in a community or school to successfully complete the entire Express collection.
