WiRED International is pleased to welcome Erin Baker, Ph.D., and Sameer Verma, Ph.D., to its Governing Board.
Dr. Baker is a San Francisco-based quantitative user experience researcher for a major social media company. She received her B.A. in psychology at the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in social psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Baker has published in journals, such as Social Psychological and Personality Science, and has presented and lectured at numerous conferences and workshops. She has dedicated herself to applying the rigor of experimental social science to user experience research.
Dr. Baker said, “I am delighted to take on more of a role in WiRED, particularly in spearheading any efforts to provide vital health education resources to people through previously unconventional and unreachable sources like social media.”
Dr. Verma is Professor of Information Systems in the College of Business at San Francisco State University. His research focuses on the diffusion and adoption of innovative technologies, and he also works with companies in the area of content analysis, management and delivery. Dr. Verma is the founder of One Laptop per Child projects and communities in San Francisco, Jamaica and India.
Dr. Verma said, “Health is the new wealth; same as the old wealth! We live in incredible times, and to enjoy all that the world offers to its citizens today, one needs to be healthy, mobile and participative. WiRED International provides insights into health challenges with the hope that the use of technology will help in furthering the quest for the billions who still struggle for a healthy future. It is my distinct pleasure to serve communities around the world through the Governing Board of WiRED International.”
