People@WiRED: Volunteer Appreciation

BY KRISTEN GARABEDIAN; EDITED BY BERNICE BORN

All of us at WiRED would like to wish happy holidays to the many people who have become part of our family over the years: doctors and nurses, community health workers, and ordinary people who have used our training materials to improve their knowledge of medicine and community health. Our holiday best goes also to the many people who have donated to our cause, and to the professionals who have contributed their time and extraordinary talents to the development of our training tools.

A special and thankful holiday greeting to WiRED's remarkable volunteers around the world. Our work would not be possible without this talented and dedicated network of people. These generous souls give their time and talents to help people in need. They are not paid and often go unrecognized for their humanitarian work.

WiRED salutes the volunteers who make this work possible and thanks them for their efforts to bring health care and medical information to people in isolated and underserved regions. We have volunteers in every country we serve and in the United States, and all of our governing, advisory, and honorary Board members serve on a volunteer basis.

We at WiRED would like to express our admiration of volunteers everywhere, who help charitable organizations work for the benefit of underserved populations. Their invaluable gifts of time and talent make it possible for small humanitarian groups to accomplish remarkable achievements with limited financial resources.

We thank our Governing Board, Advisory Board, and Honorary Board for their guidance and financial support. And we want to recognize by name just a few of the many people who have donated their services to WiRED's nonprofit work in 2012:
