iRED International is proud to announce the release of its 24-part Mother and Child Health Series.

WiRED has created a uniquely comprehensive training program, two years in the making, to assist families, caregivers, community health workers and others by offering information related to the following four areas: Before Pregnancy, Pregnant Now, Labor and Delivery, and Parenting.

The majority of deaths suffered around the world by mothers in pregnancy and childbirth and by children under age five are preventable.

The majority of deaths suffered around the world by mothers in pregnancy and childbirth and by children under age five are preventable. The WiRED Mother and Child Health Series provides the training that ensures skilled care before, during and after childbirth in order to save the lives of women and newborn babies and foster their well-being.

WiRED’s Mother and Child Health modules present a one-stop source, covering such topics as birth defects, maternal sepsis, postpartum depression, infant feeding, child nutrition and diarrhea in children.

Throughout the series, WiRED emphasizes healthy practices and lifestyles. For example, WiRED strongly promotes breastfeeding after birth through at least the first year, which protects against childhood infections, reduces allergies, increases cognitive development and lessens obesity risk.

The Mother and Child Health Series will be used by schools, clinics and hospitals, and nongovernmental organizations that help families prepare for a healthy pregnancy, delivery and the years of childhood up to age five.

"[W]e must put the well-being of women, children and adolescents at the centre of global health and development."
— Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
WHO Director-General

Ensuring healthy lives for mothers and children is a top priority of the World Health Organization (WHO), whose guidelines WiRED follows. WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “We cannot achieve the ambitious health and development targets in the Sustainable Development Goals unless we secure the health, dignity and rights of women, children and adolescents. … [W]e must put the well-being of women, children and adolescents at the centre of global health and development.”
